2026 Renovation Project
Meet La Familia Segura Perez. We met daughter Alejandra in 2022 when we provided her with a scholarship to attend University. Recently, Alejandra required eye surgery due to potential loss of vision. We soon discovered that her mother, Patricia, developed extreme pressure behind her eyes which caused her to become legally blind. Their house was being constructed on purchased land, little by little over the past 9 years and they were very close to completion. Due to Patricia's sudden inability to work and expensive medical costs, their lives were impacted without preparation. Their floors were not completed and dangerous for Patricia to maneuver. Several walls were incomplete without insulation and wind blocks. More importantly, the family felt overwhelmed, especially seeing their mother, who was always so strong, feeling useless, helpless and hopeless. They now see a much bigger purpose for what has transpired.

The Sonoda Foundation, together with our church Comunidad Encuentro in Ensenada & Team Kairos missionary construction team, along with the Segura Perez family, will pull together to help finish their project. Our plan is to completely restore the concrete floor with tile, replace broken windows, connect shower, toilet & sink fixtures to a new water tank system with a boiler for hot water. Install insulation & drywall with fresh paint. Reinforce their roof to complete their already started project for an extra room for their son. Safely rewire their electrical outlets and switches. The family is saving for a stove and refrigerator which we will help subsidize. Team Kairos is supplying professional contractors, plumbers & electricians for the major work. They are also providing the blue prints, material inventory / delivery and total planning of the project, free of charge as a blessing to us and the family. The Sonoda Foundation, Comunidad Encuentro & the Segura Perez family will do the finishing work, including fully painting the inside & out.
