Meet Marisol Herrera Cervantes. Marisol desired higher education to help secure her future in the medical field as a nurse by working extra hard to receive a certificate for Special Surgical Instrument. Marisol and her family host our Godly Financial Stewardship bible study.

Education is very important all over the world. Here in Mexico, it is very difficult to attend schools because of the costs of supplies and resources for children, teens and young adults. The Sonoda Foundation makes every effort to try to help anyone who wants an education to have an opportunity. We provide opportunities for scholarships, school supplies including electronics and internet. We help families become self sufficient by learning Godly financial stewardship clearly given by Biblical Scriptures. Most importantly, we provide one on one mentoring and support to display to each individual that while material tools are important, they are not as important as personal relationship building, prayer and biblical obedience.

Meet Brenda. Brenda is one of the most courageous blessings we've met in our ministry. Recently, Brenda was emancipated from an orphanage and has moved from place to place in order to have a roof over her head. Unfortunately, she withstood living in some very dangerous and toxic environments due to the lack of resources. Brenda works full time and is now going to University to become a mechanical engineer. Her passion was in coaching sports but decided quickly that that path would not be able to support her. We continue to support and mentor Brenda as she perseveres to reach her goals.

We met young Karla in 2012. Her story goes back to when she was a little girl and a home was built for her family, and the journey to where she is today, all thanks to God. We've had the privilege of contributing to her education  through University & Medical School.

Above, our newest student, Alejandra Segura Perez, receiving her high school graduation certificate from Baja Ed. Alejandra will be attending Universidad for Business Administration. Our hope is to be able to support her for the next 4 years. Below is a picture with her father and mother.

Today, Dr. Karla Carmona is serving her community in Ensenada and the surrounding areas. Her passion was to be able to return to her community to give back and take care of them. God is answering her prayers as she is also a fervant advocate for medical missions.

Above is Aylin, who is now 10. Aylin is the younger sister of Alberto. Aylin is very happy to be back in school since the pandemic took two years away from her. Aylin is a very outgoing girl who loves outdoor activities. She also looks up to her older brother and loves him very much.

Alberto is now 16 and in high school. He loves to play sports and is very involved at his church, Comunidad Encuentro. He is currently on the multimedia team which produces live feeds from their services to social media. He has aspirations to become an architect. Alberto is an amazing older brother to Aylin, as he watches after and cares for her. He is dedicated to be a great example for her.

Staying connected and deepening our relationship. Here in 2023 with Dr. Karla & her one year old Camila. Not pictured her husband Manuel.

She is grateful because she believes this scholarship will be a huge opportunity to change her life, to get a better job and better provide for her daughters and parents. We're so proud of Susana for her courage to step out in faith and dedicate herself to be the best woman God created her to be. We're blessed to be able to be a part of her journey. Susana is also a dedicated regular attendee to our Godly Financial Stewardship bible study.

Meet less than half of our Friday night bible study family. God is walking us through the biblical scriptures to teach us Godly Financial Stewardship. Or how to manage every blessing that He gives us. The first thing we learned and remind ourselves each time we gather. All things are from God, they are for God and most importantly, they belong to God. We are only stewards / managers of His money.
